CORVINA

The Corvina (Plagioscion squamosissimus), also called silver croaker or Pescada is a silvery colored, stout-bodied fish that resembles the croaker of salt water. They tend to feed on small baitfish and do travel in schools. Land one, and you and your fishing partner are likely to land 20 over the next hour. They tend to school at the mouths where creeks and rivers intersect, or along deep pockets on a creek or river bank, preferring calm water. They rarely assault a topwater plug, favoring surbsurface baits, especially bucktail jigs and small jerkbaits. This fish can get up to the mid-teens and is an exceptional battler on light tackle.
