Week 18 – Dec 29 – Jan 5, 2008 This week was the worst of the year for number of fish per angler and on size of fish. During the time of the Christmas break, the water rose about six (6) feet. It has continued to rain, and the water has continued to rise. Because of these poor conditions, we have been offering our clients two choices. First, recognizing that “fishing is fishing” and that there are no guarantees, they have selected to come anyway. So far the balance of he groups have taken the reports, evaluated them and have selected to postpone their trips until a later dater when conditions improve. Because of the high water conditions, it appears most likely that this season has come to an end. It is getting to be more and more unpredictable to plan for trips to the Unini River in January. Because of that, next year we will offer an alternative river with similar characteristics to the Unini but one that is fed from a different watershed. We will still be continuing our operations on the Unini River, but this alternative river will be used in addition to help provide our clients with the best fishing in the amazon. We hope this will give us the ability to extend our season into the end of February or even into March. In the meantime, thank you all for sharing with me one of the best fishing seasons we have had since I first began coming to Brazil. I hope your trip met your expectations – and more. See you next season!!! |

Week 15 – Dec 8 – Dec 15, 2007 Fishing has been good this week for 8 anglers. Total fish caught was 826 with 71 over 10# and 4 over 20#. The primary bait was jigs. Water levels were good throughout the week, however, on the last day of the trip the water rose about 12". It is not unusual for us to have rising water around Christmas, but normally it will return to a falling pattern by the time we resume fishing. Let's hope it repeats the same pattern this season. |

Week 14 – Dec 1 – Dec 8, 2007 Fishing continues to be good at our camps on the Unini River. Water levels rose for a few days over the past week, but by the end of the week, the levels had begun again to recede. Fishing is the lagoons continues to improve. There have been rain showers most days somewhere within our fishing areas - but they tend to be localized. The baits of choice continue to be jigs and Yo-Zuris, but the top water bite continues to improve with the primary lure of choice being the Halloween colored High Roller Rip Roller or the Zara Spook. We will be closed after this week for two weeks to allow our employees to go home for the holidays. WE HOPE THAT EACH OF YOU HAS A SAFE AND HAPPY HOLIDAY SEASON!! |

Week 13 – Nov 24 – Dec 1, 2007 No question last week was one of the best I personally experienced. Our group broke the camp record by boating twelve peacocks over 20 pounds. As to total fish the exact number I do not know, I think in excess of 600. Everyone I know of boated at least one fish over fifteen. The water continued to fall for most of the week. Many large peacocks were moving off nests. “Fry balls” began to show up in greater number, producing several large fish. Large fish were caught on a variety of lures, both underwater and top water. For a little change the group caught a number of red tail catfish from twenty-five to sixty pounds. Also Tory, from Florida got a 200 pound Pirarucu! |

Week 12 – Nov 17 – 24, 2007 Conditions continue to be favorable. Water levels are steady with some heavy rains. Again, the jigs, and subsurface baits were most effective. Top water action continues to improve. The number of fish being caught that qualify for the Monster Club (20# +) is better than any year since we began operations. |

Week 11 – Nov 9 –15, 2007 Primary lure was jigs. Topwater bite is getting better - especially during rain showers. Water levels are excellent - about 12" below the platform on the stairs. The next several weeks should provide continued good fishing on the Unini River |

Week 8 – Oct 20 –27, 2007 Fishing continues to be excellent on the Unini River. Water levels continue to be stable to falling and now reflect a level of 1062cm. This week we had 10 anglers. The results again were outstanding: During the week a total of 1014 Peacock Bass were boated, weighed, photographed and released. Of those boated, 841 were in the 1-10# pound class, 33 – 11#; 34 – 12#; 13 – 13#; 18 – 14#; 3 – 15#; 16 – 16#; 15 – 17#; 21 – 18#; 9 – 19#; 9 – 20#; 1 – 21#; 1 – 22#;. Favorite lures this week were Woodchoppers, Yo-Zuri jerk baits and jigs. Check out Fishing Reports for our UPDATED numbers on the amount of fish caught during each week. |

Week 7 – Oct 13 –20, 2007 It was another tremendous week of fishing on the Unin River. With water levels continuing to fall slowly, the fishing is nothing short of fantastic. Last week with 10 anglers fishing, over 1100 Peacock Bass were boated with several over 20# and the largest was 25#. Check out Fishing Reports for our UPDATED numbers on the amount of fish caught during each week. |

Week 6 – Oct 6 –13, 2007 Fishing continues to be excellent on the Unini River. Water levels continue to fall and now reflect a level of 1076 cm – which is about 1 ½ steps above the second platform of the steps leading down to the camps on the river. We have begun cutting access into remote lagoons that we have not accessed before. Our staff is busy opening at least one of these lagoons per day. Some do not hold large quantities of fish, but some of the others are giving exceptional fishing opportunities. The results again were exceptional: During the week a total of 762 Peacock Bass were boated, weighed, photographed and released. Of those boated, 599 were in the 1-10# pound class, 16 – 11#; 29 – 12#; 27 – 13#; 14 – 14#; 8 – 15#; 26 – 16#; 7 – 17#; 16 – 18#; 12 – 19#; 4 – 20#; 2 – 21#; 1 – 22#; 1 – 23#. With eight fish qualifying for the Monster Club, we inducted new members and recognized the additional success of current members who added to their numbers. |

Week 1 – Sept 1 – 7, 2007 Fishing for the first week of the season was cancelled because of high water conditions. Week 2 – Sept 7 – 14, 2007 Our season began this second week with 4 anglers (one of whom had no experience with Peacock Bass fishing or the use of Bait Casting or Spin Casting equipment). Water levels were above 1200 cm (the level where I think good fishing begins). The results of the week were remarkable. A total of 207 Peacock Bass were boated of which 136 weighed in at 1 – 9 pounds. In addition, the following BIG fish were boated: 9 – 10#; 2 – 11#; 6 – 12#; 10 – 13#; 2 – 14#; 7 – 15#; 4 – 16#; 7 – 17#; 10 – 18#; 9 – 19#; 2 – 20#; 1 – 21#; 2 – 22#. All fish weighing between the two rounded numbers were rounded down to the closest whole number (i.e. a fish weighing 14.5# was counted as 14#). Five fish were caught that exceed 20# thereby qualifying the angler the award of “Monster Club” Member. Week 3 – Sept 14 – 21, 2007 Week of the International Peacock Bass Tournament was cancelled because of failure on our part to obtain the proper licenses to conduct the Tournament. The Tournament has been rescheduled for Nov. 30 – Dec 7, 2007 – subject to issuance of the proper documentation for the Tournament. That document has been applied for, and we expect approval in the near future. Week 4 – September 21 – 29, 2007 This week was cancelled to complete documenting all facets of our operations. Week 5 – Sept 21 – 28, 2007 Anglers were given the choice of postponing their trip or waiting until the last minute to determine if the trip would be held. In the end, two anglers chose to participate. They were pleased at taking the chance. Water levels had dropped below 1200 cm, and the fish were moving quickly out of the flooded jungle. The results for the two anglers were as follows: 341 Peacock Bass were caught weighing: 244 - 1 - 9#; 16 - 11#; 15 – 12#; 17 – 13#; 4 – 14#; 16 – 15#; 6– 16#; 10– 17#; 8 – l8’#; 2 – 19#; 2 - 20#; 1 – 22#. All fish are weighed on IGFA Certified with the guide calling the weight and the client verifying the call. One of the anglers remarked: “It was the best trip of my life – ever!" Three more were caught that exceed 20# thereby qualifying the angler the award of “Monster Club” Member. |

Hey Gang! |

| I just returned from Manaus and the Unini last night. The water levels are a bit lower than average for this time of year. The river is falling about 4" per day, and I would like to see it fall another 3' prior to the beginning of the tournament. At that level, we will have great access to many of the lakes and lagoons off of the main river. We will not see many sand bars at that level, but the big fish are usually the first to emerge from the jungle and into those lagoons. Hold on to your hat and be ready for quite a ride. See you in a couple of weeks. | ||

| I am just home from two weeks in Brazil. The water levels on the Upper Unini continue to fall, but they are rising on the lower part of the river. The water is up in Manaus, and from the reports of fishermen on the plane today, the water levels have now risen in the Barcelos area. Looks like things are fast coming to a close. We will close after this week in anticipation of higher levels within the next few days. On a positive side, the fishing has been the best we have seen on the Upper Unini in several years. Not only are the big fish biting, but we are catching a large number of fish in the 2 - 5 pound class which bodes well for the future health of the river. Can't wait until next year!! |

| Hi Gang hope you are all well. I just returned from the unini river and will return there tomorrow. The fishing is about as good as it gets right now. Just before we closed for Christmas the water started to rise and when returned just before New Years the water stopped rising and began to fall very slowly. The fishing started out very slowly but got better as the water slowly dropped. The last three weeks have been the best I've seen since I started coming to the Amazon. One of the great things happening now is the large numbers of small fish, the Unini has always been know as a big fish river and more then lived up to that reputation this year but we have tons of small fish in the river now and that portends well for the future. Don is already busy working on things to make next season even better, I am sure he will be filling you on what he is doing in his news letters. I will be going to the Fred Hall Show in California in March and I hope to see some of you there. | ||
