THE JUNGLE SETTING

Very few places left on earth still hold the magic, the beauty and the remoteness of the Amazon Jungle in Brazil.

The Amazon Adventure will begin approximately 200 miles from the nearest large city and over 100 miles from the nearest jungle village.

The Eco-Tour enthusiast can find monkeys, anteaters, tapirs, all kinds of birds and the occasional jaguar. The plant life is nothing short of phenomenal.  Many of the medicines of the world are derived from some type of plant found in the Amazon.

As an Amazon Adventure traveler, you will probe deep into the jungle to witness sights not seen by most of the world.

 

TOUCAN

Our guides will take you on nature walks through the jungle or on a kayak trip to see the hidden lakes and lagoons of the Unini River in north-central Brazil. 

If you are into birding, you will see a variety of unusual birds, and you may come upon one of the most unique birds in the world – the Chestnut-Headed Nunlet (photographed recently at our camp for the first time ever in the wild).

 

CHESTNUT-HEADED NUNLET

Each time you round a bend in the river or enter a new trail, you will be surprised by the beauty of this place.  Look for the pink dolphins, and try your luck at catching a piranha.

Butterflies are in abundance--intensely beautiful – boldly colored and plentiful.

 

CLEAR WINGED BUTTERFLY

The trips can include a visit to one or more of the native villages to meet the local inhabitants and observe their lifestyle.

At the end of the jungle experience, you might want to extend your stay in the area to tour the city of Manaus. The city tour could include a visit to the famous Opera House, the Port of Manaus and the local marketplace. Jewelry Stores offer good prices for the unique stones native to the area.

 

THE AMAZON CUTTER

In the jungle, you will live on either the Amazon Cutter or the Amazon Explorer—each a  comfortable, self-contained oasis in the Jungle where you can experience all that the jungle has to offer – yet enjoy the comfort of semi-private rooms with private baths, air conditioning throughout, a professional chef, daily laundry service and more.

Eco-Tours and Jungle Adventures began in September 2006. Those who need a break from fishing or those who do not fish will find this new feature an exciting, yet very safe, introduction to this vast wilderness.

As you might expect, Amazon Adventures cannot guarantee that you will see any rare birds or wildlife as mentioned herein, but we can put you in the habitat where they have been seen or heard.  The rest is up to you.  Come join us!
